Various tricks can be performed, ranging from the relatively simple to more difficult and complex tricks, the latter of which is worth higher scores. The bird characters themselves look wonderfully daft in their various selectable. It’s fun, when it doesn’t punish you for its own shortcomings, and the blurry backdrops are straight bargain bin-PS1 fodder, but I still can’t help but get drawn back into the odd, goofy world of these skating, winged weirdos.
SKATEBIRD SWITCH REVIEW FREE
Being a lonely bird with loads of free time, you decide to take up skateboarding instead. The story that plays out is, of course, absurd but SkateBIRD knows how silly it is and delivers it with charm. SkateBIRD is ultimately, incredibly charming, but incredibly flawed. The Skate dream Big Friend had is long over. The job takes up more time than anticipated leading Big Friend to be barely home to even take care of you. Players skate across small-scale areas, with objects such as pencils, erasers and other household items strewn around to be interacted with and skated upon. Skatebird is the pet of an unnamed human referred to as Big Friend. While it’s likely not the best skater you’ll ever play, it’s probably one of the more unique ones. Charming, with a light-hearted story and a good sense of humor, there’s plenty to enjoy, even with the overly floaty feeling that hampers the controls.
SKATEBIRD SWITCH REVIEW PRO
From American developer Glass Bottom Games, SkateBIRD is a sort of pseudo- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, where the skateboarders are replaced with tiny birds. SkateBIRD is a fun, if flawed, experience. The people behind the game made a Kickstarter to fund the game and achieved. SkateBIRD is a game where players control small birds on skateboards, skating around bird-sized skate parks. Skatebird is a cute and original arcade skating game supported by great music, but the skating itself is crude, the objectives are boring, and the camera is a regular hassle. Overall, this is a fun indie game with an interesting behind the scenes story. Developed and published by Glass Bottom Games, SkateBIRD is a novel and unique title about tiny birds with a love for skating that is available on Steam, Switch and Xbox, including GamePass, for your regional pricing.

This is all thanks to Limited Run Games, who make and release physical edition copies for indie studios and publishers across multiple mainstream consoles. Somewhere in between came the announcement of a truly novel and unique indie title SkateBIRD. During today’s Limited Run Games’ Forever Physical live stream showcase, held as part of E3 2021, SkateBIRD was announced to be getting a physical edition for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.
